Program rules

Preparing for our first 90-day cycle

The planned donation rate is 10% of eligible KDP royalties. Cycle dates and participating Kindle titles will be posted before nominations open. No cycle is open at this time.

How nominations will work

Adults age 18 or older may submit one nomination per cycle. No purchase is required. Each distinct verified charity receives one selection entry. There is no prize, payment, or tax deduction for the nominator.

Charity eligibility

The program is intended for verified U.S. charitable organizations eligible to receive charitable contributions. Verification includes IRS status, revocation checks, and other applicable eligibility checks. Private individuals, political candidates, for-profit businesses, and unverifiable organizations are excluded.

Calculation and reporting

The royalty base includes participating Kindle eBook sales and KU/KENP royalties after refunds, reversals, and Amazon deductions reflected in KDP reports, before the publisher’s own income taxes. Print and merchandise income is excluded unless expressly included for a cycle. The donation is calculated after the applicable reports and payments are available.

Cycle reports will list eligible royalties, the donation rate and calculation, the selected charity, the donation date, and redacted proof of payment.
